MANDRA
To the north of Elektra, Mandra is a semi-isolated village on the very western edge of the Stenyklaros plain. It's claim to fame is a tholos (domed) tomb which, like other local tombs, is now missing!
     Discovered in the 1920s, the tomb was recorded in the 1950s as being twenty metres south west of the Church of Saint George. Today, this spot is in a field adjacent to the church courtyard but there is no evidence of a tomb, only an empty sandbag. There is, however, a pile of stones in the north corner of the field which may be the final remains of a significant archaeological site.
