FROM PATRAS VIA OLYMPIA Directions FROM ANDRITSAINA The road from Andritsaina to The Ark in Ancient Phigaleia is as impressive as the geographically remote area it serves. It takes you past countless mountain meadows, herds of sheep and goats and archaeological sites such as Bassae ('little vale in the rocks') which, in classical antiquity, was part of Arcadia. Bassae is famous for the well-preserved Temple of Apollo built by the Ancient Phigaleians. Depending upon your schedule, this gem of a temple hidden inside a protective tent is well worth the 6 euro entrance fee, especially if you walk to the temples of Aphrodite and Artemis above the main temple.
