TOWNSAndritsaina NIKOLOPOULOS LIBRARY Although Agathofron Nikolopoulos never visited Andritsaina, his father was born there and this is why he donated his precious book collection to the town. Sadly, as the video in the library explains, he died from tetnas caused by a wound he sustained packing the books for transportation from France to Greece. Since the 1930s the original collection of printed editions has been enriched and today exceeds 40,000 volumes. The library also houses replicas of the marble engravings that once adorned the Temple of Apollo. Now in the British Museum, the Bassae marbles rival those removed by Elgin from the Parthenon.
