HOME FARMS VEGETABLES Most people have a garden where they grow what they want to eat and they eat what is in season. In the summer months you will see the famous Greek salad, "aggourodomata" ('cucumber-tomato' all in one word) with olive oil and oregano. In the winter and spring months, the salads at the table are cabbage and carrot with olive oil and vinegar or lemon or a "prasini" ('green salad'). At local markets you will be overwhelmed by the variety of vegetables and startled at the large quantities people buy, although this is hardly surprising when you consider that many live in remote areas without a corner shop.
