VILLAGESTripotamo LIFE-GIVING CHURCH If you turn off the old Megalopolis-to-Kalamata road towards Tripotamo you will pass an imposing modern church known as the Life-giving Church. Painted tangerine with a terra cota roof, it stands out vividly from the green landscape. Unusually, it has an adjacent graveyard which is likely to be the final resting place of church patrons who undoubtedly get a reserved burial plot as part of their sponsorship package. A shortage of land means cemeteries in Athens and Thessaloniki are overcrowded and, as there are no crematoria in Greece, people are often buried in the village of their birth.
