CHURCH OF SAINT CONSTANTINE
The inscribed stone removed from Polichni in 1858 can be found in the courtyard of the Church of Saint Constantine in Konstantini. Now in two pieces, it flanks the doorway of the church with its ancient Greek writing rotated through 90 degrees. The reason for this is not known - maybe the cleaving of the stone and its imprisonment in a consecrated place was to break any pagan spell or curse associated with the Andanian mysteries it describes.
By the way, nothing secret or forbidden is divulged in the inscription. Instead, it is a record of the regulations to be followed in the celebration of the mysteries.
