The name of the chapel is Saint Paraskevi which means "preparation" and is also the name of the "day of preparation" for the Orthodox Sabbath i.e. Friday. It is a female name, perhaps reflecting the transition of the place over many centuries from a nymph's sanctuary to a Christian church. Shaded by a plane tree, the chapel is unlocked and its environs are charming - the perfect place for a picnic.
