This walk west to the Temple of Athena offers an glimpse into the ancient world. It is just one of the temples said by the Roman traveller Pausanias to have existed in Ancient Phigaleia. Still to be found are the sanctuaries of Artemis Soteiris and Eurynome
The walk also offers insights into a way of life fast disappearing - a stone wine pressing cistern and a threshing circle - plus a remarkable view of the Neda gorge and, if undertaken in the evening, the sunset over the Ionian Sea.
