pARKadia, encompasses Western Arcadia, Southern Elis and Northern Messenia and includes two major rivers with a claim to fame. The Neda, the only river in Greece with a female name, rises on the slopes of Mount Lykaion and crashes through a breathtaking gorge before it empties into the Ionian Sea south of Giannitsochori. Also draining into the Ionian Sea, west of Olympia, is the Alpheios river which rises in the highlands of Arcadia and flows through Elis.
The main river of Messenia, the Pamisos, follows a course to the south of pARKadia en route to the Messenian Gulf to the west of Kalamata.
